Backyard Transformation: Before and After
Here are two images showing the dramatic transformation of a single-family residential backyard in Barrie, Ontario. We maintained the identical perspective and surrounding elements (the house architecture and bare early spring trees) from the ‘before’ image to show exactly how the hardscaping and amenities were integrated.
Image 1: ‘Before’ — A Blank Canvas in Early April
This wide-angle view captures the neglected backyard of a typical Barrie, Ontario home during early spring. The ground is a mix of bare earth and dormant brown grass. The area is entirely clear of hardscaping, landscaping, pools, spas, or built-in retaining walls. The soft, overcast light highlights the plainness of the space. There is zero text or branding visible.
Image 2: ‘After’ — A Beautiful Backyard Oasis
We transformed the identical backyard from image 1. into a sophisticated outdoor living area. A dramatic multi-tiered retaining wall with built-in planters now manages the subtle grade changes and forms raised garden beds. Extensive interlocking stone pavers form pathways, a large patio area with decorative stone border. A beautiful inground swimming pool with integrated built-in spa/hot tub now steals the show. The lighting is subtle and warm, inviting visitors into this backyard oasis. The same trees from the first image remain.
